Introduction
We are planing a project in Swansea called Yoga Shanti Cohousing. Want to come and join us? We are currently looking for people who are interested in an alternative yogic community lifestyle.
Alan initiated this idea of using Yoga as a guiding principle for a co-housing community that will uphold yogic ideals.
In our project there won't be 'separate' apartments or houses, but instead each person will live in his/her individual room with LARGE shared spaces. The aim is to create a true community or maybe even a Commune. We plan to have 2 shared kitchens, a yoga room, a workshop, garden and a van/car.
Everyone takes on duties around the house and garden. We expect everyone who lives with us to take on responsibilities, even before we move in. And we are making sure that those who will call this place home will not just use their residency as a second home or a base to put their suitcases while on world travel.
We are not aiming to establish an Ashram, but we prefer the following rules: Daily practice of Asanas, Pranayama or Meditation. We like to treat our bodies, all living beings and nature mindfully and with respect.
Variations and progress is being discussed at our regular team meetings, ayurvedic cooking and dining meet-ups.

Really a home for you?
Alan once said: "I want to settle down and envision a vibrant yogic community, where there are artists, practitioners, experienced professionals, beginners, housewives, retirees, young and old people, farm workers, and programmers, and maybe children. Everyone lives in a room of roughly the same size. Otherwise, everyone spends time in the large communal areas or in the garden – two shared kitchens, two living rooms, a greenhouse, an art studio, a yoga/meditation room, a coworking space, a workshop and a garden." Normally each person can have maybe a small kitchenette in his private room corner and maybe a small private bathroom.
You will have friends and definitely won't be alone and you are sure to find companionship with someone in the community.

Living with us will be cheaper than in the normal two-room apartment. And the longer you stay, the more affordable it gets. The community will be your home when the storms start blowing, and storms are coming.
