What is the 'Silver List'
The 'Silver List' is more than a waiting list.

It's called "Silver" because it's valueable and its about planing for your future when maybe your hair turns silvery grey. Anyone wanting to move in or acquire an option to move in later... all are recruited from the 'Silver List'.
A place on the 'Silver List' is obtained by purchasing a slot. The price for this is as of May 2026 is 2.500 £. The funds are held in trust in a transparent 'Silver List Trust Fund'. All income and expenses relating to this fund can be viewed by members of the Silver List at any time. There will be two official trustees for the 'Silver List', one from amongst the residents. They will oversee the proper use of the funds and will administer the order of successions on the list – they will be called 'Guardians of the Silver List'.
During the founding phase the funds of the 'Silver List' will be used to cover preliminary planning costs and general start-up expenses, such as fees for lawyers, tax advisors, book keepers, building surveyors, soil samples, architects, planing permissions, PR etc.
Registration on the Silver List does not entitle anyone to make decisions regarding project development or concerning the fundamental design of the house, nor set rules for the communal life within the house. Such decisions initially are reserved for the members of the house project development team.
As mentioned, the funds from Silver List cover expenses for initial project preparation. The funds are later reimbursed to the Silver List from the overall project financing. Thereby the Silver List receives its money back. Any person wishing to withdraw from the list during the planning phase should be aware that this registration fee can only be refunded once the project is fully financed. This is because the Silver List funds are almost entirely allocated in the initial planning phase.
Please note: Anyone wishing to withdraw from the Silver List and requiring a refund of their list fee loses their rank on the list and the right to apply for residence for themself or for a third party candidate.
Later, during the residency phase, proceeds from investing the funds accumulating in the Silver List Fund will serve to provide residents with a budget for urgent, unplaned expenses, if sufficient. And if sufficient are also meant to provide financing collateral to a new resident, should he or she not be able to finance the purchase of his or her share/room.
Individuals on the Silver List have the right to apply for residency for themselves OR for one other person should a space become available.

Planing for Hard Times. A place on the Silver List can also be seen as a form of financial planing. It almost goes without saying that you would want to reserve a place on the Silver (waiting) List for yourself—or indeed for someone else, such as your mother, your son or daughter, etc. Even if they never come. With a financial deposit on 'the Silver List' you secure yourself a ranking. This gives you and your beneficiary the opportunity to maybe move in one day. Into this or another future Shanti Cohousing project. Can you think of a better way to secure your future and wellbeing?
